Ditemui usai membuka acara Investor Gathering yang berlangsung di sebuah cafe di kawasan Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jakarta Selatan, Kamis (13/10), Andy Laver selaku COO Mekar Entrepreneur Network mengungkapkan bahwa kompetisi yang bekerjasama dengan Kedutaan Besar Indonesia di Amerika Serikat ini diharapkan dapat menumbuhkan bisnis-bisnis baru sehingga dapat mendongkrak ekenomi Indonesia.

"Ada sekitar 300.000 lebih orang Indonesia di Amerika, baik yang kuliah, sekolah, kerja, tinggal atau bisnis di sana. Kami yakin bahwa banyak dari mereka yang memiliki ide bisnis, atau bahkan sudah membuka bisnis di Amerika yang ada hubungannya dengan Indonesia. Jadi kita ingin memfasilitasi itu," ucap Andy.

Menjadi salah satu bagian dari Putra Sampoerna Foundation, Mekar berusaha agar para pengusaha Indonesia yang saat ini berada di luar negeri, khususnya di Amerika Serikat, mau membuka bisnis mereka di Tanah Air, sehingga memacu pertumbuhan ekonomi dalam negeri dan sekaligus membuka lapangan pekerjaan baru.

Andy menambahkan, dalam kompetisi tersebut para pengusaha dipersilahkan mengirimkan rencana bisnis mereka tanpa ada batasan jenis usahanya.

"Kita tidak membeda-bedakan, jadi semua bisnis plan bisa dikirimkan," imbuh Andy.
